Gentle Yoga with Surya Mudra
Join Mary Platt for this yoga flow to increase heart energy and enhance circulation. Throughout class you will use Surya Mudra, also known as Prithivi Mudra.
As Gertrud Hirschi writes in her book Mudras: Yoga in Your Hands:
“Prithivi Mudra can eliminate an energy deficit in the root chakra. Whether or not your feel psychologically or physically strong and vital is largely dependent on this energy. This finger position also intensifies the sense of smell and is good for the nails, skin, hair, and bones. If you feel uncertain of your steps while walking, the Prithivi Mudra can restore your equilibrium and trust. This mudra also activates the root chakra, in which our elemental force resides.”
