Yoga and Mudras to Transmute Denial. Today Mary Platt will help you keep your attention focused on the body through movements and yoga mudras. Mudras are hand gestures that direct energy in the body in very specific ways. They can have quite a profound effect on all five body levels, or koshas. You will do some standing and sitting poses.

Think of emotions as energy in motion. We are always in state of flux. Everything is always moving, so if you come out of balance, how do you get back into balance? Mary will help you work with three main tools, physical body, awareness, and breath. In Mary’s three lessons, you will use yoga and mudras to move and grow through grief.

How do your use yoga and mudras to transmute denial?

Yoga, along with yoga mudras, can help transmute denial through several mechanisms:

  1. Body Awareness: Denial often involves a disconnection from one’s emotions or physical sensations. Yoga practices, including asana (physical postures), bring attention to the body and its sensations. By tuning into physical sensations during yoga practice, individuals can become more aware of any areas where denial is manifesting as tension, discomfort, or numbness. This increased body awareness can be a first step in acknowledging and addressing denial.
  2. Breath Awareness: Yoga emphasizes conscious breathing, which can help individuals become more present and aware of their internal experiences.   4. Energetic Alignment: Yoga views the body as an energetic system, with various energy channels (nadis) and energy centers (chakras). Yoga mudras, or hand gestures, influence the flow of prana (life force energy) within the body. By practicing specific mudras associated with acceptance, clarity, or insight, individuals can work to release energetic blockages associated with denial and invite in qualities that support facing reality with openness and honesty.
  5. Integration of Body, Mind, and Spirit: Yoga is a holistic practice that integrates the body, mind, and spirit. Through the combination of physical movement, breath awareness, mindfulness, and spiritual connection, individuals can cultivate a sense of wholeness and authenticity that transcends denial.
