TCM Meridian Series — Lesson 2: Heart Meridian Acupressure for Calm & Balance

This lesson explores heart meridian acupressure and the interconnected Heart, Pericardium, Small Intestine, and San Jiao pathways in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Through gentle pressure and mindful awareness, you’ll learn how to settle stress, support digestion, and cultivate a grounded sense of inner balance.

Traditional Chinese Medicine views the body holistically. The Heart, Pericardium, Small Intestine, and San Jiao meridians work together as part of a unified network. When we care for one channel, we harmonize the flow of Qi throughout the whole system.

Heart Meridian Acupressure: Understanding Heart-Related Channels

In TCM, the Heart Meridian governs blood circulation and the vessels, and also guides mental and emotional activity. When Heart-Qi and Heart-blood are abundant and flowing smoothly, the mind feels clear, emotions feel steady, and the spirit is calm. When depleted, we may experience insomnia, restlessness, frequent dreaming, or emotional unease.

The Pericardium Meridian protects the Heart and helps regulate emotional stress. It serves a broader purpose in TCM than in Western anatomy, acting as an energetic and emotional shield for the Heart.

The Small Intestine Meridian supports digestion and nutrient absorption, separating what the body needs from what it releases. Balanced flow here supports clarity, nourishment, and physical vitality.

The San Jiao (Triple Burner) Meridian regulates body temperature, fluids, and energy movement between the upper, middle, and lower body. It is not a physical organ, but an energetic function that helps maintain internal harmony and healthy circulation.

Together, these channels form a supportive network for emotional well-being, clarity, and inner peace.

What You’ll Practice in Heart Meridian Acupressure

  • Acupressure to calm anxious feelings and settle the mind
  • Points to ease nausea, motion sensitivity, or travel fatigue
  • Gentle stimulation to support restful sleep and emotional grounding
  • Massage techniques to aid digestion and nutrient absorption
  • Ear and head points to release tension and lighten dizziness

Move slowly. Let your breath guide your touch. This is an invitation into awareness, not perfection. These techniques make heart meridian acupressure practical, grounding, and accessible, helping restore emotional calm, digestive comfort, and steady energy flow.
