Part of the Yoga Mudra Challenge — experience how daily guided mudra videos with Dr. Juli Kramer support healing, balance, and inner calm.
Duration: 16 minutes
Meaning and Purpose
Garuda Mudra, the Gesture of the Eagle, energizes the thyroid and endocrine system, helping to regulate hormones and enhance vitality. This practice supports balance in metabolism, mood, and energy levels. It also opens the chest and heart area, promoting alertness and emotional clarity.
This page includes a guided video and meditation with Dr. Juli Kramer. You’ll learn how to use breath and awareness to activate circulation and restore inner balance. As you practice, your body begins to feel lighter, your mind steadier, and your energy more even throughout the day.
Yoga Journal explains that Garuda Mudra increases vitality and balances energy flow through the endocrine glands.
How to Practice Garuda Mudra
- Sit comfortably with a straight spine and relaxed shoulders.
- Place your right hand over your left hand, hooking the thumbs together.
- Spread the fingers wide, like the wings of an eagle in flight.
- Rest the hands over the chest or at the base of the throat.
- Inhale deeply, lifting the chest; exhale slowly, releasing tightness from the shoulders and neck.
Hold for 10–15 minutes, or follow along with the guided meditation. In this way, you stimulate energy flow through the throat, where the thyroid gland resides.
Healing Focus and Benefits
Garuda Mudra enhances thyroid function, balances hormones, and supports the entire endocrine system. It improves circulation, boosts metabolism, and helps manage fatigue. Moreover, this mudra cultivates a feeling of spaciousness and emotional strength, allowing you to rise above stress with renewed energy.
The Hormone Health Network notes that balanced endocrine function is vital for energy, mood, and metabolic health—making regular relaxation practices an important support.
Integrating into the 15-Day Yoga Mudra Challenge
In the Radiant Shenti Yoga Mudra Challenge, Garuda Mudra symbolizes freedom and focus. Practice it when your energy feels low or your emotions unsettled. Over time, you’ll feel steadier, lighter, and more connected to your inner strength.
