History of Fragrance Qigong
It was developed by Dr. Tian Ruisheng, who claimed to have received inspiration for this practice in a dream 50 years priors to teaching it to the public. He said he learned the practice when he was 12-years-old, and a Buddhist monk cured him from a serious illness.
Fragrance Qigong is unique in that it incorporates the use of visualizations and breathing techniques to that many practitioners report evoke fragrances during the practice. Some practitioners imagine various scents, such as flowers or herbs, while performing the specific movements and breathing exercises. The goal is to stimulate the senses and enhance the flow of Qi (vital energy) throughout the body.
According to proponents of Fragrance Qigong, the practice can have various benefits, including relaxation, stress reduction, improved mental clarity, and overall well-being. However, it’s important to note that the scientific evidence supporting these claims is limited, and Fragrance Qigong should be approached with a critical mindset.
